Pregnancy Support

Pregnancy Support

Natural therapies can be very effective in relieving the symptoms and discomfort of pregnancy and birth by restoring and maintaining physical, psychological and emotional balance.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Hypnotherapy can be very helpful when dealing with Postpartum Anxiety ( used known as Post-natal depression)

Reflexology during pregnancy

Reflexology during this time can help maintain a healthy pregnancy, promote a positive birth outcome and normalise the birth process as there are many psychological changes taking place throughout pregnancy. Reflexology is a great way to relax and promote emotional as well as physical wellbeing and balance hormones.
* Early stages of Pregnancy – it helps to reduce morning sickness, ease back ache, pelvic and joint pain, ease general nausea and to maintain good health
* Later stages of Pregnancy – for relaxation and to ease some of the discomforts of pregnancy such as swollen ankles, backache and heartburn.
* Overdue Birth – some women have found that reflexology can encourage labour if birth is eminent.
* Birth – adrenaline and cortisol levels may be reduced during beginning stages of labour allowing the release of oxytocin as the mother-to-be relaxes
* Post-Natal – assists with relaxation, rebalancing and restoring energy levels, promoting good sleep and just for general ‘pampering’ time for herself.

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy massage during pregnancy can be soothing, relaxing and calming. It can help to relieve muscle tension and stiffness. It’s a wonderful way to relax during what can be a tiring and stressful time particularly when we are trying to be ‘Superwoman and Supermum’ balancing too many tasks.
Massage can be given lying down, on your side , reclining for some leg and foot massage, or seated in a chair while you work on the shoulders, neck and scalp.

Reiki

Reiki is deeply relaxing and can be given lying down, lying on your side or reclining on a couch or chair dependent on what stage of pregnancy you are at. It puts the body into a deeply relaxed state where you can just allow your mind to drift and let go of any worries or anxieties that you may have had.
Interestingly, in-utero babies love Reiki so baby will often respond by moving about just as they do with Reflexology treatments. They often move then settle down or the mum-to-be may feel little twinges or kicks in response.

Hypnotherapy, Emotional Freedom Technique and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Hypnotherapy is a blend of hypnosis and therapy. Hypnosis is a deeply relaxed state where your mind is focused and body often feels heavy, limp and very relaxed. It’s a bit like being day-dreaming and while your mind is in this lovely relaxed state, we can access your deep inner resources and memories.
EFT is a technique that releases blocked energy and scrambles the way that your brain processes information by tapping, saying certain phrases and switching from left to right brain processes. It releases the ’emotion’ attached to the memory.
The words Cognitive and Behavioural in CBT means how our thoughts and feelings affect us inwardly and outwardly. By using interactive conversation and some ‘home assignments’, we are able to look at the fears and anxieties (or resentments) in a different way. We are able to ‘put things into perspective’ and become pro-active in making the changes that help us to move on in a healthier way of thinking and acting.
Sometimes new Mums can allow fears and anxieties to take hold , or perhaps they may have had a negative birth experience and cannot allow themselves to relax and enjoy the pregnancy.

Hypnotherapy , EFT and CBT can all help you to ‘think about these issues in a different way’.
